• Controller: HPE H240ar Smart Host Bus Adapter, a flexible controller available in Smart HBA or simple RAID mode

  • Supports 12 Gb/s SAS and 6 Gb/s SATA

  • Provides 8 physical internal links through two mini-SAS (SFF-8087) connectors

• RAID Options:

  • Simple RAID levels: 0, 1, 5 (plus 10 on some variants) in RAID mode.

  • Can alternatively operate purely in HBA mode

  • Note: Unlike Smart Array controllers, H240ar lacks cache modules and battery backup but can support optional Secure Encryption in RAID mode

• PCIe Slots:

  • Standard: Two PCIe 3.0 slots (one full-height half-length, one low-profile).

  • Optional: Additional third PCIe slot via secondary riser when dual CPUs are installed

• Rails: Comes with standard 1U rack-mount rail kit (often HP Easy-Install rails)
